As we step into our 31st year and as we mark the release of the AMD AM4 Motherboards, we spend some time to walk down memory lane to reminisce the classic boards under our belt. Over the years in the industry, BIOSTAR certainly has made a name for ourselves in the field and has produced many excellent products that have been unforgettable, especially to our DIY users.

For the true BIOSTAR fans out there, how many of you guys still remember these boards that will be featured below?

1. TForce 6100 (2005)

First up, we’ve got the TForce 6100! Manufactured back in 2005, this board is sure to bring back memories of the golden overclocking series – our BIOSTAR T-Series motherboard.


The BIOSTAR TForce 6100 motherboard is the world’s first fully integrated motherboard that is based on the Nvidia C51G chip Socket 754 and was also the most outstanding board for overclocking using the 754 platform. This board even once broke the world record for overclocking to hit 423Mhz with the Sempron 2500+ with FSB hitting above 400 to demonstrate the prowess of the board.The display core also has superior overclocking performance and is able to hit figures from 425MHz to 525MHz or more. With its unique design, good workmanship, tough overclocking performance, it definitely left a deep impression to our users and has won the praises of the media, and was even ranked first during its time. We’re sure that you loved this board just as much as we did!


2. NF61S Micro AM2 SE Student Edition (2006)

Next on the list, we’ve got the NF61S Micro AM2 SE Student Edition. Manufactured back in 2006, this was a board targeted towards the student population.



What’s up with the naming? Why student edition? Well, that’s because if you purchase this board with a student card, you can get it at a discounted price of 499 Yuan! Additionally, there is a unique packaging design for those purchasing the board at a discounted rate. In the first month of the board get listed, we sold a whopping 22,222 boards!

3. TForce 550 SE(2007)



The BIOSTAR TForce series motherboard has a good overclocking reputation. Although we weren’t the top overclocking motherboard, but we had much more favourable pricing that that of the “kings”, and the TForce 550 SE Motherboard is an example of such overclocking boards for the average user (and doesn’t break the bank!). The BIOSTAR TFORCE550 SE uses the Nvidia nForce 550 chip that supports AM2 940 series processors, which was the latest series launched by AMD at that time. The AM2 socket was undoubtedly very successful, as compared to the 939 and 754. AM2 not only has great specifications and strong performance, it produced noticeably less heat, which made the TForce 550 SE board become a hot-selling product in our lineup.

4. TA690G AM2(2007)

The TA690G AM2 motherboard refreshes a number of AM2 platform CPU overclocking record and marked the rise of the brand since after AMD acquired ATI. It is no exaggeration to say that the BIOSTAR TA690G motherboard helped BIOSTAR achieve many notable achievements today – such as our status as the overclocking king – but also marked the rise of AMD chips!


This board even helped the auxiliary SpeedTime team Yu Mengyao (Wing) win the AMD dual-core Athlon 5000 + black box package CPU overclocking tournament finals champion in the year that this board was released!


5. TPOWER N750(2008)


Hardcore DIY players will definitely be sent down memory lane with the mention of TPower since the series has made waves during its time in production. The BIOSTAR TPower series has an epoch-making significance of the supreme level in terms of overclocking series products in the eyes of many overclockers. BIOSTAR TPower N750 motherboard was the first BIOSTAR TPower board on an AMD platform and holds a special significance to us since this was the birth of a legend.


The BIOSTAR TPower N750 motherboard was based on Nvidia nForce750a SLI chipset design and supports AM2 + / AM2 interface full range of processors. It also supports dual-channel DDR2 533/667/800/1066 memory specifications, two PCI-E16X graphics card slot with GF8200 graphics chip driver that can be achieved through the Mini’s three-way SLI platform, its various aspects of the performance coupled with a strong overclocking performance is an almost subversion of the entire AMD platform.

6. i-Cafe No. 1 (2009)

Mention BIOSTAR and one will undoubtedly link us with the world of Internet cafes. In all these years, BIOSTAR is one of the biggest players in the i-Cafe industry and a professional Internet cafes service team. Hence, BIOSTAR specially launched an i-Cafe specific model – the i-Cafe No. 1 motherboard. The first generation of the board on AMD’s platform uses the AMD 770 + SB710 chipset designed to support Socket AM3 / AM2 + interface AMD PhenomII / AthlonII full range of processors, and support HyperTransport 3.0 technology, with a transmission speed of 5.2GT / S.


Although this board is slightly pricier, we assure that you’re paying for the best. The workmanship and materials that were put together into this board is second to none and is optimised for used in Internet cafes with a heatsink, heat conduction, MOS tube that is covered with a cooling film that’s connected from the North and South Bridge. We assured you the quality of the highest standards on this board.


7. TA880G HD(2010)


Another board that made waves on the field during its days, this is definitely a board that many DIY enthusiasts will remember! With the cost advantage ofAMD processors and the emergence of nuclear technology, building a cost-effective high-definition video entertainment platform is no longer just a dream, and this surely pushed more users to go towards the AMD platform. With BIOSTAR TA880G HD’s three nuclear or even dual-core processor prices, you can buy the “quad-core” processor performance which is the same as the T series products with superior overclocking performance. Also, this board ignited the DIY spirit in many of our users since they are able to activate effects with just a push of a key – a key to open the nuclear storm. Back then, you would press the keyboard F3 to open 3 nuclear, press the keyboard F4 open 4 nuclear – similar to what you will do to activate effects in-game – and was phenomenal in the year it was released.


8. Hi-Fi A85W (2012)


Later on, BIOSTAR also has a landmark series- the Hi-Fi series motherboard, which also came with its series of boards that were added to our lineup. This series supports THX theatre sound, specifically by cutting off a separate analogue high-definition sound area, isolated from the motherboard high-frequency signal noise. COmpRED TO A TRADITIONAL motherboard, the hardware component has a more biased audio design with a built-in non-polar capacitor, intelligent adaptive impedance amp, 3D surround sound chip, audio dedicated metal film capacitors, pre-amplifier chip, Faraday cage shield and independent audio power supply and split the motherboard and audio parts and so on. These boards were made with the focus of improving sound quality performance as compare to other boards in the market. Amongst others, the BIOSTAR Hi-Fi A85W motherboard took the lead as the most cost-effective entry-level products with a price tag that allows the average user to experience the Hi-Fi sound definition. During the same year that it was listed, this product gained many positive reviews and was extremely popular due to its outstanding sound quality and even won the AMD’s product of the year award.


9. Hi-Fi A88W 3D (2013)


Following in the footsteps of the first generation of Hi-Fi products, BIOSTAR launched the second generation of Hi-Fi motherboards. Continuing the first generation of Hi-Fi boards, we retained that golden section line and Faraday cage sound card Shield. Additionally, we added the amp, which allows the motherboard to support other devices up to 600-ohm impedance headphones. At the same time, BIOSTAR joined the self-developed HRTF computing technology to achieve the 3D stereo sound. Headset users can feel through the ordinary headphones both width and breadth of the 3D sound. The BIOSTAR Hi-Fi A88W 3D, which is an A88 chipset Biostar’s flagship product has excellent 3D sound with the motherboard’s own excellent setup and excellent materials. The board was so popular back then that many suppliers were out of stock that many users took advantage of the situation to sell their boards at high prices to make a profit!

10. Hi-Fi K1-A(2014)


In 2014, BIOSTAR’s Hi-Fi second-generation products have been recognised by the market and was followed by our third generation of the Hi-Fi series products, this time we focused on Karaoke song boards. Our boards on the AMD platform has garnered a reputation of being multi-faceted – not only in gaming, for office use, or personal use, we were able to create a board with a multi-function audio and video HTPC tool – and the Hi-Fi K1-A is arguably one of the best in this aspect. MATX board design with all-around design and first-class workmanship that is cost-effective certainly has brought this board the fame that it deserves. Moreover, the motherboard has a unique audio and video entertainment Karaoke song, function, so that users can enjoy the fun of singing Karaoke at home.



11. Hi-Fi A88ZN(2015)


The BIOSTAR Hi-Fi A88ZN is a mini-ITX form factor motherboard that can support 4K ultra-high-definition, and certainly, deserves its reputation of the being one of its kind. It is based on the AMD X88 chipset, and in addition to what can be traditionally found in Hi-Fi motherboards such as the original high-fidelity audio, it also comes with many new and outstanding features, making it a leading choice in the mini-ITX form market. For the formation of high-definition cinema users, this is definitely the board o your dreams.

12. A68N-5200 (2016)


The BIOSTAR A68N-5200 motherboard has an onboard A6-5200, which is a built-in quad-core processor ITX motherboard, which is extremely cost-effective and has ultra-low power consumption being the biggest highlights of this motherboard. The motherboard uses a quad-core AMD Kabini A6-5200 processor, with a default frequency of 2GHz, has integrated Radeon HD 8400 graphics card, supports DX11.1 and HDMI output and is definitely more than enough for small games and multimedia applications.

The Crowning of the Next Legend

With the arrival of the AMD AM4 platform, BIOSTAR will definitely be hopping on the bandwagon to produce even greater products for everyone! Just which of our boards will join the list of becoming one of our classics?
