I recently got my hands on one of BIOSTAR’s RACING Z170GT7 motherboards and I’m really excited to check out whats inside! I mean just from the box itself, doesn’t it look absolutely amazing?

In line with the new theme of the BIOSTAR RACING series, the box now features a simple carbon fibre weave pattern on the entire packaging with the model name printed large on the front. I don’t know about you, but it gives me an awesome feeling knowing that I’ve got one of these cool stuff.

The new Racing motherboard features onboard Intel LAN denoted with the logo on the front along with the chipset and 6th-gen Intel processor series logo.

Alright, now let’s get started on the unboxing!

The front cover flips open to reveal a nice shot of the board inside.

Wow, the racing design of the board immediately caught my eye. Doesn’t it look really cool to you?

Moving onto the back of the flip cover are the feature highlights of the new BIOSTAR RACING series and the many features BIOSTAR is offering to its customers in their new flagship motherboard.

The back of the box highlights the primary features of the BIOSTAR RACING Z170GT7 motherboard, as well as informing users the 4 feature highlights: Dual BIOS, GT Touch, I/O Armor and Vivid LED DJ which are unique to the Racing series. Below that lists more of the specifications of the board. All those features definitely sound awesome to me, but I’m looking forward most to trying out the Vivid LED DJ feature.

Now that we got over with the box, it’s finally time to check out the actual board!

Opening up the main flap securing the box contents, we finally get our first glimpse of the bare motherboard. BIOSTAR designs the cardboard support that holds the motherboard so it doesn’t slide around during packaging. Pretty nifty I would say.

Underneath the motherboard are the accessories included with the BIOSTAR RACING Z170GT7.

The BIOSTAR RACING Z170GT7 package includes (in counter-clockwise direction): an instruction manual, a VIVID LED DJ instruction sheet, driver installation disc, the I/O shield and four (4) SATA cables. As a special gift, BIOSTAR included an LED strip (pictured on top of the driver installation disc above) for us to get started with the custom LED functions of this motherboard. I’m so excited opening these things up already that I feel like a kid in a candy store LOL.

The included LED strip is around a foot long and is equipped with a 5050 header which is compatible with the onboard 5050 LED Fun feature of the new Racing series motherboard. BIOSTAR sure knows how to get us started with their new Vivid LED DJ feature with this lovely gift.

Alright, now let’s get to the motherboard itself!

Finally we get to see the BIOSTAR RACING Z170GT7 motherboard in all its glory: full matte black PCB with special race flag pattern printed on the board for that undeniable racing look. WOW.

Another shot of the BIOSTAR RACING Z170GT7 motherboard from another angle.

A closer look at the I/O Armor shroud and the Carbon Fibre weave-design on the heatsinks of the BIOSTAR RACING Z170GT7. This board’s subtle approach to details give it a clean yet well-designed look without being too gaudy or busy.

The BIOSTAR RACING Z170GT7 is complimented with a solid array of rear I/O expansions including USB3.1 ports with a Type-C connection available, USB3 ports, a legacy PS/2 port, LAN powered by Intel, hifi audio and video display output consisting of VGA, DVI, and dual HDMI.

Up to three SATA Express connections are present on this motherboard and up to 6 SATAIII devices can be used for plenty of storage.

An M.2 slot for compatible devices is present for compatible devices and allows the BIOSTAR RACNIG Z170GT7 to take in high-speed storage up to 32Gb/s.

Four PCI-e x16 slots are present on this board for great multi-GPU flexibility. Capable of running at x16 x8 x4 x4 configuration for Crossfire configurations, this board can run up to four cards in tandem for a great gaming experience.

The hi-fi audio with shielded audio processor is seen here with the nice RACING series logo. Looking closer we can see the race flag print streaking to the corning giving a really nice touch of detail on this board even when turned off.

Rounding off the bottom part are I/O headers, the DUAL BIOS chips and a racing inspired PCH heatsink.

Concluding our tour around this board is a shot of the memory area and where the GT Touch buttons reside which allows quick toggle between predefined settings like ECO mode, Sports mode and power and reset buttons onboard. A small LN2 toggle switch is also visible here as well as a Debug display for troubleshooting the motherboard.

I think this BIOSTAR RACING Z170GT7 is looking really nice and will definitely be a great addition!
